Default 4wd Fuel Economy

Since winter is here (at least where I am) and the snow is on the ground, my guess is most of us are starting to use our 4wd systems more often for road driving. I want to know what kind of MPGs you're pulling in 4hi vs. 2wd and what the setup is on your XJ (i.e. Mine is a '96 4.0L AW4 with a 3 inch lift, 31s, and flowmaster exhaust). Let's see who is getting the best fuel economy. I'm not doing great with my 13 city lol

I am stock and getting 14.7 mpg in 4hi. I get about 15.4 in 2wd during the winter.

Wow that's not good at all for stock. Have you ran seafoam or fuel injector cleaner? Better yet have you changed your filter and cleaned your throttle body? I pull 17 city with my '92 XJ laredo in 2WD and it's stock.

Im all city driving, 13mpg. '96 4.0, 4" lift on 31" tires.

I only drive about 15 mins to work so I let her warm up before driving off. That and winter blend fuel kills my mileage. Summer time I get over 16mpg (all city). I dont drive the XJ on the highway so I have no clue what highway mileage would be.

I think its my air filter. My mileage dropped noticeably after changing it. Think it is restricting air flow too much. I am also do for an oil change though so that should help too. I havent seafoamed it yet though. i dont work tomorrow so i should be able to check some of the stuff. My driving habits dont lean towards good mileage either though.

For anyone here who has a Cherokee SE, 4.0, straight 6, I would like to know what your mpg is for city driving, summertime, 2wd. What is the standard when you've got the original tire size, or close to the original tire size for this vehicle?

I've been told 13 mpg is about average for city driving. What about interstate?
