I grew up in Greenville (also REAL norcal), always drove trails up there. Anybody on here ever go and explore the old abandoned mines and lookouts up there? It's a blast. A lot of lakes up there too. BTW I'm in the Marysville area now, half hour south from Gridley.

I have never explored that area. Wanna go up there some time and show me around? I am in Chico now, on the way. We are having a meet and greet tonight at Round Table Pizza on Forrest Ave in the Pheasant Run shopping center at 6PM. You are invited.

Yeah, I didn't read this until after the meet and greet, but thanks anyway. As far as exploring up there, sounds good to me, we'll have to wait a bit for more of the snow to melt. It stays pretty much buried through early spring.

Glad you are on the forum. I am in Chico, but visit Grass Valley a lot. Perhaps we can get together some time.

One of the local favorites was the Greenhorn river. But the gravel company bought it up and has denied access. But there is another area not far away that is similar and can be accessed by a stock rig. My son and I will go one of these days when the snow melts, if it ever does. You are welcome to come along

Count me in and maybe it will be a little less stock by the time you go.
