The coming week if the weather cooperates will see a new AC condenser, AC hoses, dryer and orifice installed with the previous obtained front header panel, grill and headlamp buckets. Spent the last week dodging rain and getting my pulled parts cleaned up and fighting that damn leak on my drivers side floorboard. I went back cleaned up some stuff, resealed the seams, electrical fuse box and the hood release cable grommet. Will let it cure for a day or so and put the hose to it to see where I am!
That donor XJ in the BYOT yard is calling my name!! I may have to run over on Saturday and obtain a few more things....I have the itch for a tiltable steering column and cruise control... Maybe a couple more parts and if I lose my mind I may grab the cylinder head but that would require some help! I also have a "want" or a moveable vent window. First I will have to find one and then decide if I am up to swapping my fixed vent out!
They're not hard to swap and totally worth doing.
I use mine every day.
Finally, hopefully, I got the P1391 code cleared from the XJ. I have been battling this for a year and have been posting the fix I found on another site. I have replaced a distributor and crank sensor over this. The cure was knock on wood, I loosened the hold-down clamp, and there are maybe 2 degrees in rotation you can achieve.I was at the bottom, moved it all the way up, and retightened it. It turned itself off ( I thought the light finally burnt out) and has been off over 10 starts and driving so far. I hope this helps someone because I would have loved to find out about it a few months back. Also, silicone spray helps if you have the squeaky clutch pedal
I will be at Jeep Beach 2026 in Daytona Beach, FL on Saturday, April 25th. It will be the first year I have not taken my XJ. I will be in my TJ instead. I will have a few of the Forum decals with me, so If you spot me and ask, I'll gladly give you one.
Just washed it well. Took my time with the foam cannon and finally got all that winter grime off. Looks halfway respectable again. Been meaning to get a quote from some local ppf installers to protect the front end from rock chips, so figured I’d clean it up first before taking it in. Felt good to give it some love.
Not a mod or repair, but I think its a big deal for this little machine.
Im mostly impressed the engine doesnt burn oil and the AW4 shifts like butter still.
The Banks header I installed 6 years ago developed cracks and needed to be replaced. The company claims a 12hp gain when used in connection with a K&N intake. It is certified for use in California and is guaranteed 5 years - just my luck
