Rattle can can look pretty decent if done right. It won't be a mirror shine by any means, but a good 10 footer. You did a good job! Call me crazy but I love wetsanding then feeling the smoothness of the paint afterwards.
Sorry to see the jeep's eventually going. I would probably shed a tear or two if I had to sell mine.
It's been a completely awesome 7 years with The Hooptie. Wish I could've hung on to her and followed through with more of my plans, but like I've been telling everyone - I'll buy and build another one. This is definitely not like last Jeep. Next one will be another XJ or maybe a ZJ.
New owner is a pretty cool guy whose ethics line up with mine pretty good, so we hit it off pretty good. Lost a Jeep, but gained a friend - so I really didn't lose anything lol. He sends me pics of everything he does with it, asks me advice about it since I know the history real well and of course, I told him any time he needs to work on it, my driveway is available.
Here's his latest adventures (I've encouraged him to join up as well, so maybe you'll see him on here soon).
Definitely the most capable rig out of this group! lol
Sorry to hear that you let her go! I'd do the same thing if I were in your shoes. That's about like losin a good dog !!! Well, the next one, and I'm sure that there will be, will be a clean slate to work with !!! I been trying to crash read your build to catch up. Still plan on finishing it !!! Stay here with us anyways !!!

Yeah he sends me pics and vids of her all the time. You'd think that would really bum me out or drive me nuts 'cause I can't drive her... but I just get a dumb grin on my face and think....
lol... yeah I'm not a fan either. Alex messaged me about bumpers and whatnot a couple days ago and I get the feeling of "hey, custom bumper, cool right?" has worn off because he's talking about going with one from Goliath4x4 which is a local fabricator.
Well, the hooptie changed hands again... about 2 years ago lol
Yeah, I've been gone for awhile. New owner is really cool. I think he's more in love with the Jeep than I was... if that's even possible.
He fixed the floors, installed a winch, got himself some self-recovery ramps and a hilift, and he's been having a blast with it. He and his family go all over the place in it.
Good.... that's exactly what I built it for. And for the most part, he's left it exactly the way I built it, and from what he's told me, he fully intends to. Says there really isn't anything about it he'd want to change. So that's a nice little ego boost.
I really miss it.
Good thing I'm about to buy another one
Lookin' for a 97-99 XJ.... already 4wd this time. Need something with 4wd for the winters up here in Kentucky. Slid off the driveway about 100 yards from my house and almost ended up in the cowpond, then I didn't have enough traction with the rear wheels to get myself out, so I had to dig snow out from under the front tires and bust open a sand bag and spread it all over the ground for the rears. Got enough traction to straighten myself out and drive through the yard back onto the driveway.
Yup.... I love that truck, but I gotta have a winter vehicle.
I'll make a new thread for the new heep when I get it.
