I'm coming to even if I wasn't invited lol....I'll be out that way if I have it my way with new duty station with the Navy by August next year. If you guys go sooner that will be just an excuse for a road trip!
I'd be happy to wheel with anyone who wants to wheel. I mean if everything goes well I'll be at Windrock for at least 4 days after finals. So most likely May 5-8/9
Well..... the plot of this story just took a major twist.
We need to make some changes to help put ourselves in a better spot financially, so unfortunately, the Jeep's gonna go. Wife practically begged me not to put it up for sale this afternoon... "You just got me to the point where I'm interested in wheeling, now you're going to sell it?"
She understands where I'm at with it though.
I'm hoping and praying I can get about 4 grand out of it so we can pay off debt and have a little left over to save.
Trust me guys.... I'm bummed. Really bummed. This Jeep is my baby and I don't wanna get rid of it.
BUT.... it's what needs to be done. Like I told me wife though, this Jeep has been a learning experience. It does a great job on the trail and will go anywhere I point it, don't get me wrong... but I know what I want if I were to build another one now.
And that's what I'll do. Once we're where we want to be financially and we're in our own place, I plan on building one out the way I want it.
Thanks for following along guys, I'll keep the thread updated with the "For Sale" progress.

I understand what you have to do, Jeeps are a hobby for most of us and our family and their well-being are always paramount. If selling the Jeep is going to get you and your family where you guys need to be, so be it. Good luck man, I’m always pulling for ya buddy.
That really does suck... I feel for you and understand the reason. Its for the best. But the good news is, you can always get another one and make it better then your current one!

Exactly right, man. I can't tell ya how bummed I am about selling mine, but at the same time a little excited 'cause I'm already brainstorming about the next build. I'll have plenty of time to plan for it.
Man what did I miss?! Sorry brother that's a bummer but like everyone said and you said its what needs to be done and I understand. If I was in need of some cash the Jeep would be the first to go sadly.
Wow, this sucks. Come back soon. I've told the wife i'll never sell it for financial benefits. We would never get enough to justify it.
Yea you certaintly would never make your money back for the parts let alone your time spent working on it.

People here might think I have money but really I don't. I started off with a budget and some extra money and over time and just been able to work with that extra money buying and selling parts, jeeps, etc. flipping to make more money and continue with it. This way the majority of my build does not come out of pocket. Initially yes it will but over time I plan to keep doing that to fund my build. That and bills are paid for, debt is minimal at best, aside from my truck payment and soon to be mortgage but my credit and my wifes are in excellent shape. So I don't ever forsee me selling my Jeep for money but if something came up and the kids needed it and I don't have a way to get it any other way then the Jeep would go first. My girls do keep begging me for a horse but good thing we don't live in a house that I can buy one and that will wait until we own.
Your next build is going to be far superior then the one you had because of your experience and brainstorming! I know if I had to do it all over again I would start out with a cleaner Jeep and do things different.

I already talked to you and I'll say the same to everyone else, family comes first and you can always get another rig. And I know you ain't going away THAT easy.

I've said the same thing.... that was until I had offers of upwards of 5k for it. Not saying that's what made me want to sell it, just makes me think it's feasible.

Never know what you're going to do until you're in the situation to have to do it.
Little bit of backstory on this whole thing.... I'm a 911 dispatcher. We've been plagued with a **** storm of overtime for about the past 6 years. So much so that almost every year I've worked there, I've almost doubled my base salary every year. We took some chances, made some bad investments, had some medical expenses come up, wound up in debt, then the OT ran out before the debts were paid so now we're having to do what we can to catch up.
As far as "getting back out of the jeep what I put in".... it's kind of a non-point. You'll never get back the TIME you have invested... which I do have a lot in it, don't get me wrong. It is, however, possible to get back a good portion of the parts you have in it. Lucky for me, most of what I have on the Jeep was from hustling Jeep parts or came from money from the part-out I did.
At this point, I'll be making money on it.

lol... yeah I'm not going anywhere.
Just 'cause I won't have a Jeep for a bit doesn't mean I don't have the knowledge of how to fix one or build one.
I get it I really do! Good on you to be a 911 dispatcher that's not a easy job. Also, you can't hide from us forever lol so yea come back as needed and then certainly when you build another this way we can watch the legend to be born again
Oh I'm not goin' anywhere.... and I'll definitely post up a new build thread when I start another build.
In the meantime.... here's some updates. Took it over to a friend's house to pressure wash it the other day. Decided the mis-matched fenders and header was irritating enough to do something about it, so I cleaned 'em, scuffed 'em, acetoned 'em, masked 'em, and spray bombed 'em. Turned out pretty good for a rattle job.
Still have some touchups, the bedliner, and wetsanding to do, but overall I'm pleased.
