They truly are great people! Unfortunately I'm not as l as lucky as you as I am half way across the country from ECGS, but I will most definitely be ordering my parts for when I rebuild my D30.

I just dropped the axle off at the shop and they said it would be done early next week. Once I get it back all I will have to do is swap the brakes over from my current axle, paint it and install.

Finally some updates!! The mechanic shop FINALLY got my axle done and I am going to pick it up tomorrow morning between classes, hopefully it will fit in the back of the jeep because I left the truck at home. Once I get it back all I have to do is weld on the shock mounts, paint it, and transfer the brakes over from the C8.25. I piddled with the jeep this past weekend and got my drivers door handle fixed. I went to close the door the other day and the dang thing just popped off! It was those plastic little clips that the two screws thread into that broke. That was a pretty simple fix just two 5/16 nut-serts and cap head screw to go with them. I still need to wire in some plugs for my doors so I don't have to take the trim off every time I want to ride with no doors, and I would like to get that done before the weather warms up. What are your recommendations for plugs? I have two 8-wire plugs that I pulled off of the many wiring harnesses my dad has pulled from the old Ford trucks he built/parted out, but they are kinda crusty and brittle. I love working on this thing its just so dang hard to do between school and work, but it just keeps pluggin along.

She's loaded up! I'll be headed back home for the weekend this afternoon, not sure how much progress I will make because I am kinda busy but I will be spending all of my free time on it. Hopefully I will be able to put it in middle of next week!

Got the axle shafts and backing plates installed tonight. All that is left is to paint it and run brake lines then it will be ready to go in.

Where did you get your backing plates from? I know this is a D44 but wasn't sure if you found them locally.

Awesome start. If you want some idea for stiffeners and such check my build thread out in my signature. Lots of fab work to tie everything together.

Sorry I didn't respond I just saw this! they came with the axle when I pulled it from the JY. They were the only things I kept from the brakes.

Piddled on the axle this evening and got the brake lines ran. Still waiting on the weather to warm up, paint doesn't like to stick when its 20* outside.

Welp I'm kinda at a stand still until my dad gets his CJ put back together and I can pull mine into the shop. Until then its just a waiting game.

When I said it was going to be a slow build I meant it! Anyways, I finally got to pull my jeep into the shop this weekend and I thought I would get the axle in and be able to drive around in 2wd without my front drive shaft...NOPE that didn't happen. The Ubolts I ordered were to long and there was an inch between the top of the retainer plate and the bottom of the threads on the bolt (sorry no pics), so I have to send those back and get the right ones. To add onto that, someone(me) didn't do there homework and found out that my old drum brakes(which are brand new) won't fit on the new axle so I have to buy all new hardware, drums, and shoes for the new axle, or I convert it to discs. I would prefer to convert it, but I'm not sure that is in the funds. but on the bright side, I got the shock mounts welded on and the second coat of paint on it.
Sorry for the long post.

I went to the JY today to get the disc brakes off an explorer and I didn't have a 5/16 wrench so all I got was the calipers, but I got new pads, rotors, soft lines and caliper rebuild kit ordered. The only problem is the JY isn't open on weekends so I have to wait till Monday to get the backing plates.

I got the calipers torn down and painted. Parts will be here in the morning so I can rebuild them. Don't give me hell about the color I lost a bet with my sister!

Well I have a little progress, I got the axle assembled but I am having a hell of a time getting the parking brake shoes on. I was kinda hoping to have it ready for a trip this weekend but I don't think that is going to happen.

I got the axle installed, brakes bled, driveshaft installed, and e brake cables installed and everything ready to go and went to put the wheels on and they hit the calipers. So I ordered Synergy hubcentric spacers so I can clear the wheels until I buy new wheels and tires that have a shallower backspacing. This is taking WAAAY longer than it should and its driving me crazy!! I think I learned my lesson; gather ALL your parts together even the ones you don't think you'll need BEFORE you start the project!
