Picked up a set of 2008 RX 8 seats for the Jeep today for a great deal, they hug your sides and keep you centered. The 30 year old seats don't do it on the trails and I'm looking forward to having a set of seats that actually recline forward, yes that's right the power seats in my 2 door don't recline and never did. They came in a red, but I found that Dupicolor sells a seat and vinyl spray paint that's flexible so it won't rip or fall apart over time. I found the paint to come out fine and the seats look like new now.
G2 Gears and Master install kit arrived today for the D30/8.25. Planning on gathering the parts over time and having someone install it all when I have the fund/time to do so. Guy I bought the gears from sent me LP30 gears/install kit so working on getting them exchanged with the correct numbers that are needed. But I must say, what Beef the 4.56 parts are compared to the stock 3.55 ring and pinions i've seen in the past.
Haven't installed them yet, aiming for tomorrow. They are super comfy. Asked the wife to try them out while I had them out the shed and she sat in them for about 10 minutes just relaxing.
Alright so. Got off work at 8am and drove to Oldblue#2's house for a wrenching party. I was working on getting the seats into the Jeep, another person was swapping heads in his '01 XJ (typical cracked 0331 head), and we had the presence of a built Nissan Xtrerra show up for some quick fab work. We fabbed up brackets for the seat to work with the factory mounting. 1/8" galvanized steel adapted to the floor and welded to the RX8 seat sliders. After all day, just got the passenger side seat in. Still a fun day helping everyone else out between the seat.
