Do you have a trans cooler at all? I had issues with mine doing the same thing, it looked like the rear main, but ended up being the trans getting too hot and dumping out of the vent on top of the trans. It would dump all over the exhaust and smoke me out lol. I added a trans cooler and havent had the issue since.

Wheres the vent at? I have 35s and 4.56s on my xj and whenver I drive it I get trans fluiod all over the exhaust and a smoke show. I've replaced the rear main and trans pan gasket since. I'm about to pull the trans this weekend to do the pump seal. I feel like its the pump seal because I never changed that when I put the trans in.

Im not sure if mine is disconnected or fell off or what, but i had the EXACT same issue. I would make sure the level is correct, and put a trans cooler on it. Its like $30, and that seems to be a common issue. Like i said mine hasnt done it since I installed my cooler

Still doing the power steering. I'm having a difficult time getting the lines the thread into the gearbox properly and it's pissing me off. It's either 1 or the other, never both.
New pump vs. Old Old gearbox vs. Used Took E-fan out for more room. Had to Remove the airbox so i could have room to tighten the fittings.
Went to my first Toys 4 Tots run. So many rigs! Over 400 vehicles showed up and we paraded through downtown Chicago to drop off toys. Jeep drives great besides the sideways steering wheel and lack of drivers side motor mount. I'm also thinking one of my temp sensors might be going bad, ever since I replaced the power steering the temp gauge won't go over 175°, normally it'll sit at 210°. I did unplug the sensor going into the thermostat housing, but it's not loose or anything.

Just my luck the jeep died this morning when my mom took it. Threw 2 codes: engine cold for too long, and engine coolant temperature sensor high voltage. Something shorted out the ECT sensor, probably when I didn't cover it fast enough when it snowed while working on the power steering. Ordered a new sensor from mopar and hopefully that fixes it
ECT sensors is good now. Then yesterday I get a call from my mom saying the jeep tried to overheat and lost all power steering trying to leave. Found out the problem whilst trying to be taken to the hospital (my Civic is manual and my sister can't drive stick) due to an allergic reaction to these antibiotics I was taking for a bad ear infection. The entire serpentine belt is off the pullies... her car needs to get out of the shop so I can fix all the problems.
oh don't worry, it gets better! Water pump's dicked! The water pump pully has a ton of play, wiggling back and forth and starts to smoke when running, and tries to throw the belt. Got the new pump, but it's been in the negatives with -25° windchill and I really don't want frostbite.

Ordered up a bunch of stuff to go along with the water pump: new 195° thermostat, thermostat housing, housing tube, gaskets, upper and lower radiator hoses, and the ECT sensor I already had. Waiting for those to come in and for some warmer to get started.
Started on the water pump last night. It's in the mid 50s so it's now or never lol. Got the thermostat, thermostat housing, upper and lower radiator hoses, and water pump removed as well at the long process of scraping 212,000 mile old gasket off.
Put the new radiator hoses on, but need to get different hose clamps because the factory pinch style suck. Got the new water pump on and finger tight, but then my light died so i called it a night. Still gotta get the new thermostat stuff in and flush the coolant (which was nasty).
