Between the box and the linkage, its night and day. I am no longer fighting to stay in my lane. Keep the wheel going straight and the Jeep will follow. The thing I dont like is that the new box feels like its not as quick of a ratio. It seems I have to turn the wheel more compared to the oem box. Not the end of the world though. Havent had it in the dirt yet either. I will try that tomorrow when I am 400 miles from home with no help around haha.
Edit - forgot to mention, ac is fixed. Had a blown gasket where the tubes bolt on to the compressor. Somehow I found some gaskets at work for it. Took it to a little shop on the way home and had them drain the system, swap gaskets and put a vacuum on the system. I filled it when I got home. I dont like the readings the gauges said (too much psi on hot side compared to readings on low) so I am thinking I might have a clogged orifice tube. Will replace that in the future and hope for the best.
Thanks guy! Safely back in CA. Overall, no problems. Jeep cruises very well after all the work I have put in to it. I will make a little write up on the road trip and post it. Overall, made it 839 miles and averaged 18.5 mpg doing 75 mph. Would have averaged over 20 mpg but the drive home killed it. Bad winds the entire drive.
No real update for the Jeep at this time. Its been doing just fine. Well besides a shock bolt coming out. Its nice not having to work on it. But that is going to change soon. Next up on my list is the head gasket and intake/exhaust gasket. The head gasket is slowly seeping out the sides and it has an exhaust leak (might be a cracked header). While I am at it, might do lifters and motor mounts since I will be right there.
For now, I will leave you with some pictures. A clean Jeep and some flexing. Measurements from the flex test say I should be able to put a tire up on a 35!
My buddy Brayton (Braytonia on here) just got an awesome drone. It was finally not too windy out so we took it out for some testing. Need to get a good video editing program so we can start making some cool videos.
Ya the whole drone thing is new to me. I am just glad I am the just driver and not the pilot! I would like to find a good editing program and learn how to use it. Pretty sure between me and my buddy, we can make some good videos. Still need to do a lot more test runs first!
I spend a lot of time (to-much!) watching U-tube videos on 4-wheeling and over landing. So many of them are very well produced, It helps me determine where I want to go.
I'm joining a few guys on a trail run Saturday. The trail is near several mountain pass trails (St.Elmo, Tincup, Hancock and many more). Pretty much scouting out dispersed camping spots that I would like to spend a weekend at next year. I have watch several videos already of the area.
