Rubicon express boomerang shackles came in today! Best part is I bought them off Amazon used for 50$ and the only thing that was "used" on them was a tiny paint scratch. win for me! Now I can mount my shackle relocation brackets that have been collecting dust in my garage lol

Stared at it. Thought about it. Lol, damn gearhead brain.

She's now on only semi-daily duty, so I'm debating what to do with her. I drive her to work every day, but that's less than a mile away, and I take the BMW anytime I'm going any distance(25-30mpg vs oh I dunno, 12?). So being highway friendly isn't really a concern anymore.

I don't know whether I want to keep tweaking her current configuration, or lean her more heavily towards the off-road(gears, go back to 33s, more lift, etc).

She's VERY capable in her current setup. Rather than "why?" it's more of a "why not?" scenario, lol.

Installed a new battery because the old one was nearly 5 yrs old and I don't like surprises:

Installed the DEI fuel rail/injector heat shields:

Installed these clips on the radiator shroud lower tabs:

They're not a perfect fit, but, they do kill the rattle that's present without them. They're actually a GM part (Dorman #963-211).

And, did the steam cleaning that XJwonders created a thread for. After 213k I'm sure it needed it.

After that, took it out for ~ a 60 mile drive and drove it hard. It's running better, and quieter, than it ever has in the 6 yrs I've owned it. Definitely glad I replaced the timing chain when I overhauled the cooling system.

Edit: Oh, and the heater is now an absolute blast-furnace. It's not a daily and I never believed it was putting out heat at a sub-standard level but the heater is now functioning very well for sure.

Not today, but this weekend I swapped out my bad CPS w/ a new one. Old one made it 215K miles.

What did you think of the DEI stuff. I own an '00 and while I don't have heat soak problems I think about buying it from time to time. I do run the factory heat shield. And thank you for the part # for those tabs. Info like that could come in handy someday.

It’s solved my heatsoak issues on my ‘01. From what I understand if you live in the desert it will help a little bit not fully cure it. It seems people who live in cooler climates and have summers that don’t get into the triple digits have great success with the item.

In summer 2016, every time I shut it off and ran into a gas station, I would have an absolutely terrible time when I started it back up. Most times it was a severe rumble, other times it would almost stall out.

I installed the kit in spring of 2017 and I haven’t had one heatsoak misfire issue throughout this summer. I’m located in PA, our hottest summers days are usually in the mid-90s, for reference.

You're quite welcome, Ralph, as always. TBH, as Curry points out, the kit is for specific model years with known issues.

Although my '98 has never had that issue, even in +100° Texas and Arizona summers, I wanted it mostly for eye-candy. Lol!

Darn right! Actually, most of what's left of the parts mountain is eye-candy and I have no shame in saying it. Haha!
