Clear coat sucks sweaty man *****.
That said, I don't care when it gets scratched, but, I've been tossing around several ideas for aesthetics.
Not looking for a stellar paint job, it gets used...so I've toyed with ideas of satins, flats, liners...I am heavily leaning towards liner, so it can take the hits, without too much carnage...thinking a base layer of a sand type color, to keep it neutral. Then I can do a spray over that, in a camo pattern of some such...I dunno. There's also some work I wanna do before all that anyways, so it's a pipe dream at the moment...
But I really hate the peeling clear coat. Might just sand all that down and primer it black...

I have been using some 1/8" closed cell foam that I picked up from Home Depot everywhere I have been sound deadening. Going to put a piece in each of the 3 sections in the roof. You have to understand that I really don't care about the sound deadening. This is more a while I am here thing. I had to put in the Infinity Tweeters and new door checks in my front doors. While I am here. I had to take the rear door panels off to put in the factory privacy glass. While I am here. Swapping a dome light for an overhead console. While I am here. You get the idea. Did a little write up of this for what it is worth.

So I ran the harness for the overhead console down the pillar behind the plastic. People say they put in that plastic pillar piece and take it out without removing anything. I gave it a yank but figured if I tried harder it was just an accident waiting to happen. Plus with the connectors on the end of the harness I don't think you can get down through the metal body parts of the Jeep anyway. Taking them out of parts Jeep I have done it but a pry bar was used. So I unpinned both connectors, ran the wire, repinned it, and ran a test of the overhead, lighted visors, and the keyless remote. All seem to be operating as they should. Also put the foam in the roof. Thinking I am going to get the headliner back up, and all the trim, next but I will not be able to finish the job because I do not have any rivets for the bracket. Plus I am thinking about just throwing a couple small rivnuts in there instead.

****ty part is i was supposed to work this weekend to meet a deadline and the head honcho said he didnt want anyone on property so ill have to pull some extra long shifts mon-wed to make up for lost time due to this"hurricane"
Overhead console headliner is in. Can't hang the overhead console because I have nothing to screw in the bracket with. Trip to the hardware store is in my future. Also have to screw back in the rear shoulder seat belts but want to sound deaden behind the cargo bay plastic. Will wait until I get to that. You know those metal clips in the front pillar plastic. There is one I bust every time I remove the headliner. Unfortunately I want to say this is the third time I have removed the dome light headliner. I keep on J.B. Welding it back together. It holds when I pop it in. Just busts every time I remove it. Wanted to get the headliner in and forgot I had to glue that one again. Said the heck with it and put a piece of 3M 1/2" double sided take on the metal and pressed it on the plastic. I could tell it held. Sure it will pull apart if and when I every take the headliner out again but hoping this is the last time.

Finally got around to installing and wiring up the dash clock I got a couple years back. Works great except the middle bar on the number all the way to the right, doesn't work. 0 and 8 are indistinguishable haha

While I had the dash apart I decided to paint my gauge bezel white to match the exterior paint. Turned out good and looks really cool at night!

I drove my Jeep for the first time in two weeks today. For some reason the brakes and steering box have not fixed themselves. I just dont get it. Maybe it will happen next weekend.

New cat back exhaust, plus front pads and rotors. Once again wimped out and paid a shop to do the work. (My knees hurt pretty bad -- this getting old crap is a raw deal!
) Was worth it, the Jeep drives really nice now with new brakes, exhaust, sway bar links, and track bar.
