hey guys I had gears and a powertrax no-slip installed in the rear 8.25 in my Cherokee by a reputable shop that specializes in regearing jeeps. The gears and locker have maybe 3,000 miles on them. My issue is that if I'm in 2 wheel drive in soft sand and try to start moving or blip the throttle, only one wheel will spin and I'll hear the locker ratcheting in sync with the rpms. Sometimes this happens on the road taking off from a stop in the rain as well. In 4 wheel it locks up fine and if I hit the gas going around a corner in 2 wheel the tires will chirp. Checked the diff fluid and didn't see any metal either. Shop manager insists that this is normal. I'm going to call powertrax and get their opinion when they open Monday. Any thoughts?

That is not normal...and sounds as if they didn't set it up correctly.
I've had lockers in 3 different vehicles now for close to 20 yrs total, and have never had the problem you are describing....period

Definitely not normal my Spartan locker only ratches when going around corners. Pull the cover and check the gap between the the two locker halfs where the springs are.
