Do you make a twin one? Can you still use the hitch for a recovery point?
I've made a tri one before, you'd have to slide the flag pole out to recover since it slides into the receiver. Personally not a problem since I have other tow points front and rear.
i feel ya, mine still dead in the garage needing a trans rebuild
Ah man, that sucks. All that work getting it running and the tranny craps out?
Side note, I think I saw you awhile back in the huebner/babcock area. Saw a lifted red XJ go by that sounded like an angry Camaro, lol, thought it might be you.

the tranny started out crapped out, i think the one i bought was garbage already. in D revvs to about 3500 rpm before it will do the 1-2 shift, then nothin after that. ive got a rebuild in the garage, just need to get the tranny out
that was likely me, i live in the area. was it open header then? i may have had it screaming around my neighbor hood at 3500 rpm when i first drove it..open header
Well today I made a trip to Harbor Freight and picked up a badlands 12k winch. They are on sale all this month for $289. As stated in another post, I know the things work because my son has one that he has worked nearly everyday for about 4 years now.
Found a JY that I didn't know was there. Went to look around because I saw another 2 door xj. The older gentleman at the counter told me they didn't have any 2 door cherokees. lol After some small talk, I convinced him to let me look at what he had. We went out the side door and there it was, a 2 door cherokee. Kind of looked it over, wrecked in the front, both quarters and hatch back glass knocked out. Told him I just need the, what mopar calls "applicates", I call trim panels. The panels between the rear most edge of the quarter glass and the back of the 2 door xj. Anyway, he said they were $700 and he would throw in the jeep. No, he wasn't kidding....
I begged off that deal, not running gear and wrecked to boot. I spotted another 2 door back in the yard that already had the passenger side trim panel gone and asked if I could buy the drivers side. Ended up giving him $20 for it and what appear to be a new set of rear hatch lift stabilizers.
Walking back through the shop I found a set of cooper discovery a/t's in really nice shape. Was able to buy them for $150.
Overall, a pretty good day for my xj. Found a couple of more for parts, if I can convince him to sell the parts for a reasonable price. lol
First thing I did; ordered JCR Off Road Rock Sliders. Then, I power washed the engine bay and bottom side of hood(prep for stickers), went home packed all the components for lift kit(4.5"), new pads, rotors & calipers, new Fuel Wheels with 285/70/17 BFG KO2s, and Winch Bumper. After work tomorrow Gus goes under the knife, or uh, air wrench. Last Friday I ordered a new complete rear drum to disc brake conversion kit.
Installed power steering pump #4 this afternoon, and it works fantastically! Going to run it for a month or two and add a PS cooler once I know the pump isn't going to explode on me like one of the last ones! 2 out of 4 pumps had zero pressure at idle. One that did have pressure at idle seized it's main bearing and blew up.
Might actually take it to the dealer to verify belt tension on Wednesday.
At the same time, I decided to paint the rear bumper plastics since my friend let me use his garage on my day off. I am going to remove the door guards once the weather clears up (and hopefully I can get the adhesive residue off without too much fuss). Maybe the roof rails as well since I don't plan on ever having anything up there.
EDIT:
Also did a thorough clean of the interior after the winter. That alone took me like 2 hrs

'Tis the Jeep life...don't do the same as me and let it sit like that for 6 months...
I finally decided to get it all back together when it was time to get resmogged and now she is putting out 4x the NO (nitrogenoxide) that is allowed here in Cali.... Done Seafoam and replaced vaccuum sensors and everything.... Not sure where to go from here....
Also think I need to replace the oil sending unit now.... uggghh.... never ending

NO is caused by running to lean and/or too hot. Check for vacuum leaks and make sure your cooling system is working properly. Carbon buildup can be a factor too, but the seafoam should have helped with that. At least the oil sending unit is an easy job.
Was a little less lazy today. Took the summer wheels down to the tire shop to be cleaned up and balanced. Than finished the roof rack project. Removed the Yakima Landing Pads and put the factory crossbars back on.
Any of you guys have on board air using the ac compressor? I already deleted my ac and would like to be able to air up without going to an air station or waiting for my buddy's compressor. I seached and found a few writeup but either they are for the older style compressor or all of the picture links are dead. I am looking for one that uses the 96+ Sanden SD7H15 compressor.

Id be interested in a 2 or three way flag set up. I use the hitch for recovery, but I dont mud so itll be easy to swap if needed.
Thanks Neal. Decided to read through your entire build thread. Basically you just tapped the flange mount that attaches the stock ac lines to the compressor?

Yeah I thought I put up a picture of when I cut the aluminum tubing off the flange & machined i. Apparently I didn't, and the old pictures are in my old phone from couple years ago. I think I saved them on the computer though. I ll check tonight.

If you could do that, I would appreciate it. Just shoot it to my email in case I dont check the forum.
