Proper relay wired to the battery exactly for that reason. It was a terrible design to run full current through the actual headlight switch (which is why the PO melted the previous one with higher wattage sealed beams)
Seriously does nothing when you're talking about LEDs, trust me. They don't draw the kinds of power that high-power halogen do, so the stock wiring doesn't bottleneck them. I've been there done that and there was no before/after difference to speak of. Nevertheless, the difference is there when the lights actually draw enough power that the stock system bottlenecks them, and that only happens in high-power halogen lights.

Sorry, you're right. I was thinking about the previous-generation TruckLites when I made this response when I referred to them as JW Speakers. That was confusion on my part. TruckLite's original design, not the current reflector design, used high-power LEDs, not the JW Speakers.
It's appropriate that I point out that confusion because I'm not an idiot who doesn't look into specs. I was going fully by memory when I made that statement and my memory happened to be jumbled.
In case you have no idea what I'm referring to, these are the original TruckLite LEDs:

I didn't even realize Truck-lite had anything noteworthy to this community before these current headlights. It was my mistake to not know that you might have an older product in mind.
Just figured I would update this thread. Stuck with the bi-xenons because they are able to keep a "peephole" open during heavy snow (for maybe 2 hours)
I will try to take a picture the next time it snows. LED would unfortunately not be able to accomplish that.
*BUT*
I did notice that Inspired Engineering has a new LED 5x7 they claim is DOT legal.
Contacting them for cutoff shots and will definitely share if they oblige.
Good call..Yep!,snow is an issue with LED headlights.. I dont care what anyone read or saw a thread about.. LED headlights cant handle wet cold snow. Dry super cold snow no problem.
This is a pic of a truck that went over Donner Pass with LED headlights.. His high beams are stander and melted the snow. Not so much for the LEDs

Yeah, I still need to get around to sourcing a good halogen fog/DOT driving light to use as backup for when its snowing like crazy out.
Not really a fault of the LED's though, lower heat output means higher efficiency which is great. Newer TruckLite models apparently have heating elements in them, interested to see how they fair but not willing to spend the $600+ per light I am sure they cost
I think only the round Truck-Ls have the heating. I could be wrong, did they do something for the 6x7 or whatever.. As for me I run PIAA yellow fogs for when the snow starts to come down.. Yes they are not DOT but oh well. There are five cars running around in my town with yellow headlights, State toppers dont seem to care. Ive gotten by just using the fogs. A lot of the time Im on some road with no one around for miles.. Plus if you aim them down like headlights and not straight out like most ppl do..they actually dont blind on coming traffic..
Then ppl should ask..why the hell did you get LEDs if you live in AK..Well Im crazy..lol.. no,, I like LED light what can I say..
But Im with Ronin on this one. Since Ive had both, The split look of the Truck-Ls look way better on the Cherokee in my opinion .
Jw's Kinda give it that spider eyes look.. Im kinda on the edge about them still..
Here is something to look at..
This is a bro truck in town here I see all the time and he has HID in H4..
Look how they blind you big time,, and he is way down the road. Look at all the wasted light that should be focused down on the road, god I hate this guy..lol every morning..
Now look at this.. This truck is a company truck in town here.. They bought the whole fleet those cheap multi LED headlights..( I know one of the drivers)
You can see it kinda looks like the H4 guy blinding oncoming traffic again. Nope,,,cheap-o LED headlights. Again alot of wasted light that should be focused down on the road..
So if you are going to go LED..get some good ones not the cheep-o ones..

Try living in SoCal...so many people running around with really horrible light setups. Every night coming home I'm blinded several times.
I like the JW's, just not on our platform. They look they belong on a sports car, not a lifted brick, LMAO...and I really think they should put a small element in the TL's to melt the snow...think it would go over big.

I can imagine it,,all those ricer cars.. If they ever do make heated ones (not the round) I would sell the JWs cheap and nab them up..lol
Bro trucks are the worst - they will run 8000K lights in the headlights and foglights all the time, for double the blindness to oncoming drivers. Even annoying in the daytime!
Optics are definitely the most important in regards to headlight design. You can have all the lumens, but if it is not focused into a usable beam pattern its basically just a giant flood light.
Trughfully, only the newest all LED desgns from BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, etc have impressed me. Specifically the little BMW Active LED headlights, that can selectively dim emitters when it senses oncoming cars. My aunt has them and you literally do not need to turn the high beams off when you are on dark roads. Even does it for pedestrians IIRC
Personally, I LOOOOVE the thick blue cutoff from a modded projector (LED or HID)
Heres a great demo of the Active LED headlights, minus the music
And Inspired Engineering just sent me a response, with High and Low beam shots (shout out to them for great pre-sales service!). Hope they don't mind me sharing with the forum.

Way brighter than any halogen 5x7 light and brighter than putting HIDs in a 5x7 housing. The cut off on these are pretty good, they aren't as perfect as say a brand new BMW projector, but way better than hids in a stock housing. They shouldn't bother on coming drivers, especially if aimed correctly. They are IP68 water proof with a pressure equalization breather, you should have water ingress problems with these. i attached some pictures I took from our office wall showing the cut off. You could see there is not much if any spread facing up, everything is facing down towards the street. If I could help with anything else, please let me know.
