It is simple geometry. That's why the gained lift is not half the length. The axle is NOT mounted half way along the spring.

I appreciate all of the different opinion and am not trying to be argumentative but I posted 3 articles and have spoken reps from four companies who have all said regardless of style, boomerang or straight, gained lift will be 1/2 of the length (bolt to bolt) beyond stock. Many shackle manufactures will advertise them as an adjustable 1" - 2" adjustable lift shackle. But the 1"-2" is referring to bolt hole extension not lift. I am looking for direct experience because in planning my lift I want to be prepared and I certainly do not want to spend more money than I have to. My shackles are greasable and in good shape but measure 4.5 bolt to bolt. When I add my new 3" leaf packs I don't want to be over 4" total. If most of my research is right I'll be sitting at about 3 3/4. With a 3/4 coil spacer in front I'll sit nice and even. If the others are right I'll be at 4.5 in the rear and be shackle shopping.

Shackle lift aside. I posted the pic to show the proper shackle angle. BTW, those are the Rough Country Shackle Relocation Kit.

I had to cut them a little because the shackle was rubbing when the suspension was compressed. If you don't get the proper shackle angle after you put on the lift, this relocation kit will help with that issue.

This pic shows my Cherokee's stance. The front is a little higher than the rear.
