So the flare installation went pretty good. Got 2 done tonight. Here is how it went down.

Pull factory flare off

Put on new mounts and trace the lower portion of the flare.

Pull the mounts back off and you get this.

Trim across the line and put the mount back on.

Insert new flare.

Do the same for the rear.

And done.

Im sure your tires are much bigger then my little baby 31s. I really dont plan on going any bigger so I figured these flares should do the trick. Over the weekend I am going to pop the sway bar links off, go up to the top of the street, and see if it rubs! I have a feeling I still might need to add in some small bump stops to the front.

Flares look good! I cut way more on the first rear one than I needed to. Luckily, wised up on the second one.

I am actually kind of sad that the flares did not require more cutting on the rear. There was only about a 1/2" of material that got removed. Was hoping for more like an inch all the way around. But after looking at it, it seems like if you cut any further, you go in to a pinch seam... Dont want that either.

Yeah, that pinch seam makes thing a lot more complicated than it needs to be. That was my major concern while trimming.

Yep its got a 2" on it right now. I will be going to a 3" pretty soon but thats it. I might step up to 33s but that will be way down the road with the long arm setup.

What brand lift did you use?

And did you use spacers in the front and shackles in the rear? This is what am looking at doing to mine.

I am pretty sure its a skyjacker lift. It came on the xj when I got it. Spacer up front and a shackle in the rear. They will be up for sale soon if you are interested.

You can always cut and fold. you'll gain more clearance without separating the pinch seam.

I gained about an an inch and a half all the way around when i folded mine.

No cut and fold for me. My 31s should clear the flats no problem. I mean it wouldnt be a bad idea seeing how crushed the panel is... a not so lucky find. Its pushed in at least 1/2". Going to say it got rear ended at one point in time. Unless all 97 and up look like this underneath the plastics...

I will be interested if he's not.

I plan on running 31" tires with a fender trim and flares, so 2 inches would work great for me.

Well I got the flares all buttoned up yesterday. Decided to take the Jeep out on one of the local trails. It was a trail I never even knew existed thats about 5 miles from my house. My friend took his Renegade as the backup vehile. Well the trail was pretty washed out cause of the rain. We got about halfway up the trail and came to a washed out and very off camber section. The rear of my Jeep kept sliding in to the ditch so we called it quits and turned around. 2wd problems I know. While we were up there, I decided to see if my tires would rub. Well they do. I need about an inch longer bump stop up front. I would have pictures but my gf decided to drop my phone up there and cracked the camera lens...

So anyways, the first trip went good in my opinion. The Jeep went a lot farther in 2wd then expected. The low range of the t-case works so that means I assembled the sye right. Now back to sourcing out a d30...
