AJ's is by far the best "small company" i have done business with. Great Service and great product!

 

I called him after a week of the order and he called me right back to let me know he was out on vacation that past week and they would go out soon. I received them 2 days after that conversation, amazing.

 

did you use the harbor freight flux core welder for the this whole job?? the 2x6's and the floors?? are you worried about strength??

 

that welder is good to 3/16" if you crank it. Flux doesn't make the prettiest welds, but penetration through thin gage sheet steel shouldn't be an issue for it

Correct. We used a mix of Lincoln and Hobart .030" flux wire to do all the structural welding and I used the cheap HF wire on the floors. It doesn't budge with my weight jumping up and down on it and I have most confidence in the HF welder. I will say that it's work load is frustrating, having to let it cool down every 10 or so minutes welding the slider up added time but overall I'm happy with the results. My dad has a Hobart 140 that works great but seeing as though he's 3 1/2 hours away and I don't have that kind of money, I'm using what we can get.

No big update. Came down with a weird 24 hour fever and stayed home all day.

Oldblue#2 did seam seal all the patches a couple days ago so all that's waiting for bedliner is me to come over so we can both apply it at the same time. Had i went there I would of liked to get the tank back in, pull the front axle, and wait for him to get there to bedline but as my luck shows that's not what happened. Oh well. Soon.

 

Weekly Update Time:

Got to OldBlue's place yesterday mid morning and started to get to work. Plan was originally to get the tank and rear tires in the first hour or two but that didn't happen. Hitch is putting up a fight by my self so we'll tackle that another time. Pulled the D30 out and grinded the old mounts off them. Was hesitant to cut the lca mounts off since TNT mounts don't really go together like the picture I found but we'll figure that out later. The big news of the day was bed lining the inside, officially waiting to dry before panels go back in! I'll say that Rustoleum's roll on kit is decent for the price. Haven't seen it dry but I liked how it looked going on. We had enough to do the entire inside about 4-5 coats, the rear wheel wells, and the rear bumper. Next week it'll be fully cured and we can start putting the panels and gas tank in.

Put the gas tank back in and all hooked up, had to remove the hitch resulting in 2 of the nut strip bolts breaking so JCR nutstrips are on order. Got 99% of the interior in the other day! Feels great being able to sit inside again. We also welded up the supports to AJ's tubes to be ready for welding any time we get to it. Now most of the focus will be on the axle. The brackets aren't going to line up exactly like I had thought but still higher up then stock and beefy as can be so i'm happy with it.
