Its between a 84-96,Easiest way to tell open the driver door look for a sticker with info on that,It should list the year it is.

My best friend just bought an 88' with those same rims and roof rack, so I'm guessing 86'-89'. As stated earlier check the door, an engine pic would help also.

The door sticker will tell you what you have. If that's missing or unreadable, or you just want the info in a more easily readable format, get the VIN and enter it here:

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/vindecoder.php

That just decodes the VIN and tells you what the numbers in the VIN can tell you about the vehicle, then lists the standard equipment for that year/model/trim level. Some of the info listed there won't be correct, but the basics will be.

For the most detailed, accurate info, you can also get your build sheet for your specific vehicle from Chrysler, which shows you what equipment was originally installed on that specific Cherokee when it rolled out of the factory.

http://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/jeep/index.html

Click that link, then click "Equipment Listing" on the left hand side and enter your VIN. If your Jeep is in the database, the applet will spit out an equipment list in PDF format.

Chrysler has been updating the database to include older records, but some of the older Jeeps may still not be in there. If the applet doesn't give you your build sheet, you can email Chrysler directly and ask for it. They usually dig it out and email it back to you within a couple of days.

Yours looks like it's probably mostly stock. If you ever buy an XJ that has been modified, that build sheet can be helpful in figuring out what's been changed.

I'm thinking 89 the older wheels. Nice find for sure. Great one to fix up if it's 88 -89 you prolly have the awsome 4.0 renix that her hood best engine ever. Before Chrysler took over the heeps if your lucky the rear end will be Dana 44. Keep us posted and enjoy your XJ

Here's the interior if it helps. I'll be picking it up in 2 weeks when I get my permit. Also, its missing a Radio and I think some speakers, whats a good suggestion for around $300-$350?

How long has it been sitting in the weeds? When was the last time the fluids were changed? When was the last time it had a tune up or a brake job? How many miles does it have? What engine/tranny does it have?

Lots of questions that need answers before you worry about the stereo young buck.

More photos please. Especially of the undercarriage and engine compartment.

It's been there for a couple of months. My brother is taking care of everything when he get's the chance he works 60+ hours a week so its hard for him to get out and take a look at everything. As photo's go, It will be awhile until I get some more since its out of town at the moment. And yeah I know the radio should be the last of my worries.

Oh, another thing...if you find out what year it is, and it's a renix era jeep, go here

http://cruiser54.com

You'll thank yourself. Even if it isnt a renix, that link holds valuable information.

Side note; the underside of vehicles that are stored in grassy areas will rot out quickly due to increased moisture levels.
