Thankfully, Autorust.com makes some freakin' amazing products, and Safe-T-Cap sections were ordered to replace the cancer-ridden frame sections. With a little cutting, a little welding, and a decent chunk of cash, the frame is solid. It even has bottom-side drain holes so any crud that does get in there won't just sit there and eat away at it again.
With the frame back up to spec, I could start to focus on some other areas. WASP went back onto jack stands to get more work done to her, including TIMKEN hubs, new bushings for the rear UCA's, and Bilstein 5100 series shocks with BPE's front and rear.
Unfortunately I couldn't get the axle nuts off for changing out the hubs. A 3' breaker bar was only lifting the axle up, and without air tools I was out of luck. Thankfully I have friends that make their living off working on and building vehicles, specifically Jeeps, so off to their house WASP went to spend a few days with them while I was out of town.
While out of town, I get a text from my buddy asking me if this was the style of bumper I wanted, and if I'd be okay with a bull bar being added to it. The answer of course was, "Yes!"
A BIG part of my mindset is to always be prepared, especially medically speaking. As such, a full med bag was needed for the TJ. A local military gear store had the perfect 4-pocket tactical bag for my needs. It uses a top loop plus a bottom through-strap to hold it in place on the back All my basic first-aid supplies, equipment, guides, and dated medications are set to go now.
While all the work was happening, some eBay shopping was taking place as well. Next up, 4 LED light pods (2 on the bull bar, 2 on a-pillar brackets), as well as a bikini top.

Yeah, family, work, and a second master's degree all eat up a good amount of time. It's one of those, "plan way out and save up for it all at once" deals for me right now. Thankfully I've only got 4 more semesters on this degree, then I'll take a break before going for my PhD.

Ive seen ya driving around every now and then. Glad you didnt have to go hunting for a new frame when you found that rust. Cool bag trick. Way more interior options for wranglers ive noticed. Good luck with all the homework. School is always a grind
Got the lights and brackets in the mail, so after waiting for some decent weather to do some electrical work, install took place of the new LED pods during my lunch hour.
New blue-light rockers went into the factory spots for a nice clean look.
And all the wiring got hidden behind dash panels to keep it out of the way and out of sight.
It's not quite as pretty under the hood, but storms were coming in, so cleaning it all up can wait for another day. Whatever you do though, use relays (one per pair of pods; a 24"+ LED bar should get it's own relay) when putting in auxiliary lighting. It's only a few dollars more and MUCH safer than doing a crack-pipe job on the wiring.
Also, don't forget to run inline fuses (one per relay, using a 15 amp at a minimum) from the battery to the relays. I'd rather one of these pop than a relay or a switch.
With all the wiring in place the dash could get buttoned up.
And everything is set and ready to go. I'll post up a night-time shot once it's dark here.
Next item on the list: Wheeling trip to the mountains in 2 weeks.

lol.... looks good man. I think I'm gonna end up having to go back to my sealed beams for a little while. The one of my HID bulbs aren't working and there's no money in the budget to fix it.. be it a bulb or a ballast, either one is more than what I'm willing to spend. Luckily, these aren't the bi-xenon so my high beams are separate halogens... but they're not really cutting it. Can't find the halogens that came with the MSRs I got so sealed beams it is For a little while at least.
Helped a buddy in the local club mount a set of 37's on beadlocks for his TJ, so that meant his 35's were going up for sale. Well, I was already at his house, so we worked out a little deal, and voila! I now have 35's!
