It seems that my 89 Cherokee flex plate has been cracked, I called couple of mechanics to get an estimate, and its pretty much 500-600 to replace including parts, and labor. From my understanding you have to pretty much drop the transmission completely to remove the flexplate? I did verify that the flexplate was cracked by going under there, and inspecting it myself.

Yea the flex plate is attached to the engine. Tranny will have to come out. I got a spare plate in my garage if your local.

You don't necessarily have to pull the tranny all the way out. If you unbolt the tranny from the engine you should be able to slide it back a few inches, enough to get some clearance.

Really? I wonder if that ends up being more of a hassle then just pulling the tranny all the way.

I'm new to wheeling and have been working constantly for the last 3 months on my 92 XJ. It's on an aging 3" lift with new 31" Duratracs, etc. I've been to Tuttle and KS Rocks once each but would really like someone experienced to show me around to the areas I'm capable of passing. Is there anything closer to the Wichita area worth hitting up? Looking for new Jeep buddies here. My brother has a similarly setup XJ, so we really wanna get out and run these rigs!
