Run 10-30 Amsoil Z Rod with a Mopar performance filter P4452890. With a stroker don't skimp on oil if you want to keep the No 6 lobe on your cam in one piece. particularly if you have a high lift cam. Had 3 strokers learned the lesson with the first one. 30k miles and no 6 was wiped. The strokers need zinc. Last stroker 60k no problems. Current one 15k running like a swiss watch.

How often do you change the Z-rod? Just out of curiosity. And thanks for the Mopar part number.

I think you talked me into it, I'll use the Amsoil and this Mopar Performance filter or the Napa Gold 1515 (Wix 51515).
Thanks to everyone else for all the great info!

Holy smokes, it's like pulling teeth trying to get some Amsoil around here. I contacted all the closest Amsoil dealers to me according to the website, they don't carry the Z-Rod, don't want to order it, and just want to sign me up as a dealer so I can order my own...

I can't. But it is 10$ for the preferred member status for 6 months. Added 6 quarts plus shipping to Montana is 54.40. Saves you roughly 3 bucks a Qt. I ordered a 3 cases and some diff/tranny fluid so the preferred saved me a ton. Might be your best bet. Shipping is 9 bucks- Even if you only ordered 6, the preferred would pay itself off.

You can also run the Napa 51459 filter which is probably the largest filter you can run. I'd suggest it, and since I've switched to that filter and Rotella 15w40 oil I would recommend that to every 4.0 owner.

Also, mine is a 4.6, not a 4.0 - if that matters.

Now, I'm still having a hard time finding the original thread on here where I found out how great the 1459 filter is, but this thread will do the trick for now.

Yup, still a 4.0.
And klag, no, it doesn't matter if its a 4.0 or a 4.9.

Fantastic info, thanks! I just read both of those entire threads and all the external links (almost).
I'm convinced, I will definitely use the 1459 instead of the 1515.
I'm going to go with the Rotella T6. I like the 5W-40 vs. the 10W-30 (Amsoil) as it does get into the 20s here in the winter. Might switch back to Rotella Triple T 15W-40 in the hot days of summer.
Thanks again for all this great info! Learned more then I expected just asking about an oil change, lol!

Great choice man. In my climate I'm able to run 15w40 year round since it's so warm. Only gripe I have is that the previous owners didn't care so much about the 4.0 and at 237,000 it burns that dino juice furiously. I think the valve seals are pretty much smoked.

Today I picked up a few gallons of the Rotella T6 and a 1459 filter. Holy smokes that filter is HUGE. Looks like it will fit no problem, but was dark when I got home so I'll change it out tomorrow.
I did manage to talk to the original owner who did the stroker, and he said he took care of it. He did say it runs a little hot on the trails in the Georgia sun. If that is the case in the summer, I will upgrade the thermostat and even get a bigger radiator to combat the hot temps.
