Cherokee shpper needs advice
I'm looking for a Jeep Cherokee for an on / off road build .
Not knowing much about them I'd appreciate other owners advising me . Some of my concerns are :
1 what years to avoid
2 are the automatic transmissions stout enough and reliable enough for off road use
3 are the inline 6 cylinder engines prefered over the V6
4 are the standard shift models hard to find
5 Where are the rust areas to look for and are there replacement panels avialable for fixing the rusted area
I've looked at a few but they were beat pretty bad . Some abused and others just lacked care . Am I overlooking a diamond in the ruff ?
This Jeep will be needed for a work vehicle as well as a weekend wheeler .

stick with the I6 4.0

rockers, floorboards, around the drip rails

i would try and avoid buying someones unwanted project, start with a unmolested stocker and build to your liking
