Timing Chain replaced and now no longer runs?

The 1976 Cherokee Chief I obtained apparently had the timing chain replaced. The P.O. drove it home then the next day, it wouldn't run at all. I'm guessing the timing was messed up upon replacement....

Well the drive shaft doesn't have any play in it if I try to push up and down on it. There's a little play when trying to rotate it (assuming I'm on a flat surface).

Clunk in mid to rear end when stopping/accelerating

Just like the subject says, there's a clunk somewhere from the back end of the Jeep whenever I take off from a stop or slowing down to a stop. I read that in some cases it's the slip yoke binding up...
