    Hi Joshua,

I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner - I just noticed your message today. Merry Christmas!

It seems like over time my rear brakes started working a bit better. I think one of the issues for me was the fact that the proportioning valve is supposed to attenuate and delay the braking action to the back brakes when one stomps hard and fast on the brake pedal to avoid rear lockup (which makes no sense to have on my Jeep given the fact that it has the 4-Wheel Antilock Brake Option). Anyway, I think when I tested it that might have been part of what caused it to seem like they weren't working right.
I'm not positive they are fully functioning in the back now. I should put it up on Jack stands again and see for sure. If I do I'll let you know the results. Sorry I don't have much to offer here!

    Cheers,

    John

    Hi mdtobe!

I am looking for a miracle here. You posted years ago about your Jeep Cherokee having absolutely no rear braking power and when on jack stands the wheels wont even stop. I have a 91 Wrangler with 9" rear drum brakes doing the exact same thing. My issue is that I have replaced EVERYTHING (MC, Prop Valve, Booster, shoes, springs, wheel cylinders, drums etc.) and yet the wheels still will not stop.

Did you ever find the cause and a solution for this? Is is possible that engine torque is simply overpowering the brakes? Any help is appreciated!

I have the same situation with my Jeep Cherokee - virtually no, or maybe completely no rear braking power through the hydraulics, even though I've got the drum shoes adjusted to where if they were any tighter, they would be dragging on the wheels all the time.................
