It idles a little smoother and has a little more response on the bottom end, but not a huge difference. Definately seems like it'll help in offroad and towing situations. Get the small kit, don't get the large kit because the springs they offer will not work with the 89 and newer heads. The S-kit has the cam, timing set and lifters. You will also need a head gasket set, head bolts, timing cover gasket (I went with a bottom end gasket conversion kit for 23 bucks so I could replace all my lower seals), 6 quarts of break in oil, and 6 quarts of whatever oil you're gonna run after break in (I use Valvoline VR1 10w30 because it has the ZDDP these flat tappets need). And of course coolant if you don't save your current coolant.

so it would be ok if it was a dd and a trail ride? i justdont wana roll my 1st truck.it will only come up if i take a sharp turn?

I've removed mine on my 96, it really helps with flex out back, slightly more body roll. Just watch it if you get sideways.
