i have a 1990 xj 4 dr 4.6. it tends to overheat wen its warm outside. in 4wd it almost reaches 230. i did a t-stat change, radiator flush, cold air intake. still drives hot. also has trouble starting. turns over fine but doesnt seem like its getting enough fuel. anybody know wut to do to help these problems?

For the heat problem I would suggest getting maybe a vent of some kind, or scoops like I have(dropped the temp by almost 10-15 drgrees, but thats mine).....or maybe you have a blown gasket? Could there be any type of coolant leak?

Here's another suggestion, is your coolant bottle holding pressure? I had your same problem with the overheating and discovered that my coolant bottle was leaking all the pressure out the cap (Stripped threads). All I did was pop a new bottle in and BAM problem solved. It's very important that your system holds pressure so it can circulate coolant....

Wow I have alot to learn. I put in electric fans and upgraded my radiator. I read the post with bottle pressure went and checked mine....Slump..... It needed a new cap... lol Well I now have put in an adjustable thermostat, and I'm positive no over heating now...

As far as not getting enough fuel, could that be caused from the heating of the fuel lines right above the motor? Heat vaporizes the fuel which causes a lack of fuel to reach your motor.... I was just reading about that.
