ZJ Hanson front bumper install

Here is a guide to installing a Hanson ZJ front bumper, mainly because the instructions they provide suck. Yes, they are self explanatory for the mechanically inclined, but this is for less fortunate many.

This is how the bumper is shipped from Hanson. I purchased through Kevin's Offroad. I'm not covering how to remove the stock bumper and trimming of the plastic inner fenders.

It is packed really well in foam, so don't open it in the house and make a mess.

After getting the bumper and parts out of the box, I used a jack with a 4x4 to do this job solo.

On the passenger side you will slide in the mount with the threaded spacers pointing to the passenger side of the vehicle. Again, would seem apparent to mechanically inclined folk, but may confuse the none types. This opening may require you to cut it out, but it is a perforated panel from the factory so the lines will already be there. Mine were already removed.

This is how it should look when bolted up. The top of the mount may touch the top of the opening.

This is the driver side mounts bolted up, very easy to access.

This is the passenger side mount bolts and they are not as easy to access due to the factory wimpy horns.

I set the bumper on the 4x4 block and jacked it up and slid it over the mounting brackets.

This is the passenger side mount with one carriage bolt installed. I put the bolt head to the outside because it makes it easier to wrench on the nut.

One of the things I was concerned about with the bar was if it would clear the factory lights. You can see here there isn't any problem.

The only clearance issue for the factory lights is the top corners of light will be impeded by the bar. Not that big of a concern for me.

Here is the final product with multiple views. I had trouble finding various front end views of the bumper before I purchased so hopefully this helps others out when trying to determine fit, clearances and looks. Now I just have to convince my wife why I need a winch!

That's very nice, good job too, how much did it cost and what size tires and make/model? And thanks for sharing.

Wow, nice looking bumper. Hanson Offroad makes great stuff, pricey but super high quality

You might want to relocate your evap canister is that thing on the drivers side handing down lower then the bumper. Some turn it sideways and tuck it up in there more and some put it under the hood.
