What's the point of upgrading ZJ brakes, outside of towing?

Putting some new rotors (front and rear disc brakes) on, and have seen various upgrade options. I'll probably get non-stock rotors since they aren't much more expensive than stock and are direct-fit.

What's the point of things like the WJ to ZJ brake swap? My ABS will kick in if I brake hard enough, even on dry asphalt, so I don't see how any more braking power would be used. Improved heat handling could be good for frequent towing and large declines I suppose.

Am I missing something here? Just want to make sure I don't waste my money now and then change my mind on the subject later.

Also, any rotor suggestions? Maybe pads too while I'm at it.

For rotors, right now looking at the EBC lineup. They have the
GD GD
,
USR USR
and
BSD BSD
series.

If you think you can stop fast enough now, not any point. But I have put WJ brakes on the front and drear of my XJ and love it. Stops like a late model rig now, even with taller tires

better brakes last longer

I noticed that with 33's on the XJ this thing does not really want to stop at all even with new OEM brakes so I will be upgrading these as well even though they are new, Seems if you go bigger tires it takes longer to stop whether ABS or Not. It does have stock size rims.

For the ZJ I purchased some Power stop Extreme slotted/drilled Rotors, Power stop Ceramic pads and Towing Calipers to help once she gets her lift / tires

The power stop brakes do help with the stopping but the biggest issue I see is when I am out wheeling and I need to stop when while backing up. Perhaps I need to play with the proportioning valve but those can be some scary situations. outside of that I have no complaints for the stock sized rotors.
