What size tire can you fit on a 03 Laredo stock height and with a 2 in lift
 

I just picked up a 03 Laredo for my sons 16th Birthday and he wants a bigger tire.
First off what is the biggest tire you can put on a OEM 17 in wheel, one that will not rub or scrub.
Then being I need to put shocks on anyway, I was considering a rough country 2 in lift kit( or similar kit for same money).
With a 2 inch lift what is the tallest tire to go that route.
I appreciate any help and would like to see pics with tire size and lift kit possibly..

I do not have an answer but here are comparison pictures to give you an idea. First is stock height on stock size wheels. Second is 2" lift on stock wheels. Perhaps a 30" tall tire would fit.

Okay, I have a 2000 WJ with 245/70R16s on it and they are 29.5" tall. If I went to 245/75R16s, they are 30.5" tall and they'd rub the inner liners at full lock. A 2" lift isn't going to change this, but wheel spacers or wheels with a different offset will. You'd have to convert the sizes to 17" for overall diameters, but you get the picture.

A tire's profile, 60/70/75, is the % of tire width above the rim. SO, the tire's overall diameter will be the width X the profile X 2 + the rim. Most good tire websites will list a tire's OD.

I agree with you Dave, two inch lift does not allow more space for bigger tires. I plan on keeping stock size, just needed more ground clearance.

I know. That post was for Whitelx1. I was thinking about a 2" lift myself just for snowpack in the wheelwells, but I decided not to mess with something that already works. The 245s are the factory optional size for my beast and they just about fill the wells.

My 04 WJ Overland came with 235/65R17's from the factory.

There! You see? Running a larger wheel size, you have to go lower on the profile to fit the same OD. I believe he's also running the Upcountry suspension.

Dave your right Up Country pkg. on mine. Here it is with my XJ on a trailer hooked up behind.

But I appreciate the info. Is it safe to run those spacer kits, and what kit is good to go with that we will not have a problem..

Also I just purchased a mint set of overland wheels that he liked so I guess that is what we are working with now...

I'm running 265/75/16 on my 04, with a 2.5 inch lift. But I'm running wheels with 4 inches of backspacing. And I still rub a little at full lock. Don't have a picture with it setting level, so this will have to do.

What size tires are on your truck

P245/70/16

Very nice WJ looks good with those wheels I can see where you would have an issue with rubbing, but love those tire's also.
