How to resolve an open or short circuit in the TPS
I had my oil changed and now I have a oil light displaying as low coming and going. Also a check engine light is on - TPS is out of range - giving an open or short circuit in the TPS

You can use a multimeter to check voltage. Connect the positive lead to the center wire by backprobing the connector, then the negative wire to a good ground. With the key on, the voltage should read between .02 and .09 volts with the throttle closed and increase smoothly to around 4.5 volts at wide open throttle. If it's shorted, it will show 5 volts all the time and open will be 0.
"Backprobing" means sticking the probe tip or some other conductor into the wire side of the connector while it's still plugged into the device. On a weatherproof connector, it may require a straight pin or other thin pointy thing.
OR, you could do what most guys do and simply replace it! That will be your first shot from the "Parts Cannon!" LOL!
