Rims & Tires question
 

I'm trying to go with a different look in wheels a tires for my 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the wheels I tried on was 265/75R16 that was to big it was rubbing. When I turn or should I go with 31x10.50x15 or should I keep the 16inch rims and get smaller tires that won't rub because I don't wanna shave my bumper and also I keeping it on stock suspension for now I'm not lifting it anytime soon maybe over the summer here's a picture that I got of google that's the wheels & tires that I want for my jeep Attachment 296731

The largest tire you can mount on stock rims with stock suspension without rubbing are 245/70R16s. These are 29.5" in diameter. Even these will rub the inner fender liners during an energetic full lock turn.

Also, 15" rims may not clear the brake calipers without using less backspacing. They wouldn't with my 2000 when I had the Teves calipers, but I haven't checked since I switched to the Akabono.

the picture uptop those are the rims I'm looking to buy with tires that some guy is selling but the tires are to big and it rubs the rim fits fine but not the tires here's the size 245/70R16 maybe I get a smaller size what's the next down from this size 245/70 because if you telling me the 15s will rub on the caliper then I'll sick the 16s but I just gotta a smaller size tire so it won't rub on the plastic

If those are steel wheels they are cheap to buy for that style of wheel. My 04 WJ (Overland Edition) came stock with a 235/65R17 on it and they will fit on yours also.

I run 245/70 x16's on my 2000 WJ without any problems - standard suspension set up.

Correct! That is the factory optional tire size for the WJ. I've been running those for 5 years with no problems at all on stock rims! If they rub on yours, they must be mounted on wheels with less backspacing, and that's what the picture shows. Get the wheels you like with the standard offset and you should be fine.

I'm running Cooper Discoverer AT3s, 245/70R16 on stock Timberline wheels. That's what came with my WJ when I bought it. Go to wjjeeps.com for info on factory wheels.

NOTE: 245/75R16s are about 2" taller. Those will rub.

I ran 245/75/16 on my 04 before the lift, etc, on stock rims and they were fine.

Okay, I was wrong. It happens sometimes, LOL!
