Question on swapping both axles on a WJ
I've tried googling, and come up with nothing, so forgive me if this has been beaten to death, but...
I have a 99 wj laredo, and the front axle recently went out (diff and axles were both roached) . I figured instead of paying 1400 to have it rebuilt, now would be a great time to find a pair of axles from a v8 wj, so I could at least upgrade gears and get a d44a at the same time I found a 2001 wj that was being parted out, so I grabbed both axles for a great deal. The 01 was a v8 with a tow package and quadra drive. My question is regarding driveshafts. From my research, the rear should bolt directly in, and I shouldn't run into any issues cuz my wj's lifted 4", which should compensate for the added pinion length on the d44a. The front axle, however, looks like a cv connection instead of a u-joint. Should I grab the front driveshaft off of the donor vehicle, or can I switch/upgrade my current driveshaft? If this has already been covered, links would be appreciated! Thanks guys |
