Default Tire Size

I am installing a 2.5 inch lift on my 0` wj Laredo. I would like to continue using the stock rims 16x8 but would like to go with a bigger tire. What is the max width I could go on that rim. I would also be using a spacer and need to know a size there. I was thinking of a 2" one. Id also like to go with a 31" tire. Id like to leave the sheetmetal alone but if I had to trim a little plastic It would be ok. Im am obviosly amtrying to avoid any lind of rubbing on suspension components etc. The truck will be seeing some off road fun but is mostly an everyday driver. Thanks all

honeslty a 2 inch spacer is disaster waiting to happen it sets your rim out further from the hub putting stress on the studs/wheelhub/and cv axle i just got a 2.5 inch lift in today i would look into pirelli scorpion mud 235/85/16s they are exctly 31 inches tall uninflated i have a set of 4 i wont need to trim they are 9.4 inches wide and fit a 6-8 inch wide rim just fine

This is my 04 2.5 inch lift, the second picture is after I put the new steel bumpers on. I'm running 265/75/16, HOWEVER I'm also running a rim with 4 inches of back spacing, (I think stock is something like 6). I didn't cut any metal. There is a lot of plastic cut out even before the new bumpers. I do think you would rub on the control arms if you went with 265, because you need more back spacing. I also agree that spacers will just add another point of failure. Before I bought the current set up I was running 235/75/16 on stock rims and no lift. No rub unless I was being stupid off road. Mine is my daily driver.

I fully agree the 235/85s are 31.7inches tall and 9.4 wide but I barely clear the fender at full flex
