Lifting a wj 3 inches and have questions
 

So I ordered the IRO 3" lift for my 2004 jeep wj limited and my dad insists that I have to spend my money to have someone else install it. I want to do it myself because I want to be apart of wherever goes on my jeep so how hard is it to put it on and how long does it normally take? I'm only 16 but I'm pretty good with cars.

I haven't built a WJ (yet), but on my XJ's, & TJ's that i've lifted i'd say you should plan on a min of 2 days to do the lift. I don't see where you live, but here in Buffalo NY Rust is a huge PITA. Be sure you have the correct tools, and access to another vehicle to run for bolts and such you'll need as you go. Do you have any friends that have done lifts before? If so, have them help you out. I've always installed my lifts with my buddy who is a Diesel Mechanic...

Nebraska doesn't have bad rust probs and we got about all the tools we need. Don't really have any friends that have lifted anything but some of them know as much as I do. And yes I don't have a car to run and get extra bolts that's the first thing I made sure about

JMHO, but you chose about the best 3" lift kit for the WJ available. It's pretty simple to install and maintains the stock ride quality very well. AND you don't have to mess with spring spacers. Just be sure your brake hoses have enough travel to not be stretched, especially the rear. You may need to adjust the front axle spline length with the lock ring.

Wait...you do or don't have another car for a parts getter?

Get a can of pb blaster and look at the lifts instructions any bolts your gonna remove give a blast of pb blaster a few days a head so it will loosen the rusty bolts.Since its your first time i would plan a day maybe 2 and make sure you got another car in case you gotta get parts.And after you get the lift installed it needs a alignment so keep that in mind and budget also.

Another thing is to loosen the control arm bushing bolts when you do the spring replacements, then don't tighten them again until the jeep is sitting on it's wheels. That way the bushings won't be twisted and wear out or squeak. I know the guys that go up to 4 or more inches do that.
