Hanson bumper and winch size
 

Disclaimer- I have no experience with winches or ever used one.

I have a Hanson Winchguard bumper and looking to install a winch. Hanson sells fairlead mount plates but indicates they only support 9,500lb and under winches. I was looking at a 12,000lbs winch, like the HB Badland model or a brand with a synthetic rope, but concerned it won't fit. It's only .1 inches longer than the 9,500lbs model and two inches taller.

Final question is, do I really need a 12,000lbs winch for a 95 ZJ? I suspect no, but I am a big fan of having more than needed just in case. I really don't want to spend over $600.
