Hey I was just curious if I'm missing something here in the hole above the shock. This is my 1996 zj. I was measuring the wheel well for a track bar adjustment when I noticed this randomly happened. I'm not sure when this happened or how long I've been driving like this, but what broke here? Is there supposed to be a mount for the shock exposed and it broke off? Or did part of the shock break? Would i just need a new shock, or is it further gone than that? I would appreciate any insight as I was always afraid of doing work on shocks (heard one too many stories of cheap spring compressors failing) so don't know my way around this area of the jeep. Looks like the top stud on the shock broke.

Time for new front shocks.
