oops, old thread.

You can put a federal cat on in NYS even if it is a CAL system. Thats why they sell them at AZ and advanced. Ask me how I know. You might need to change the 02 downstream sensors. However if you take it to one of the big rip off places they will tell you you cannot do that and try to sell you the 900$ job.
About a buck for a fed converter.
