98 GC seat rail swap with CS

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the power seats. I am a large guy and don't have any head room with the seat lowered all the way.
Was wondering if the manual seat tracks from a 98 Cherokee Sport would be compatible as they would sit and inch or two lower being there would be no more electronics under the seat.
If not what would work to lower my seat height?

Thanks

I have seen a couple of guys do that. Try searching this forum and the modification forum.

Welcome to CF!

The seat track will fit perfectly, but I doubt if they'd be any lower as they are designed for a "normal" height person, HOWEVER you could cut the "leg" sections of the tracks, overlap them, and weld or bolt them together. They don't have to be from a 98 either. Any earlier ones will fit and you can mount your cushions on them. I have a 97 XJ seat cushion on my 2000 WJ driver's seat rails because I don't like the new "bucket" design. I'm trying to find a nice pair of grey ZJ seats to retrofit. BTW, I'm 5'6 and 250 lbs.

The hardest part is getting the bolts out of the floorpan. When I took my driver's seat out of the XJ, I used a long 1/2" ratchet and broke 3 of them. I wish the 4th had broken because it was a bear to remove. It was in the back near the tunnel! You may need to soak the bolts from underneath when you take yours out.

The manual tracks are separate and held onto the cushion with 4 studs with 1/2" nuts. The adjustment bar just fits into the front between them and will fall out when you take them apart. Don't worry because it fits right back in. If you feel like it, the power harness can be hidden under the center console.
