Many noobs join seeking an answer to a particular problem, and when they get it they disappear. For others, the Chat and Off-Topic sections are their way of reading about and meeting other members rather than the less active tech sections. Specially during the odd hours.

True. Forums aren't for everyone and many people get what they want and leave... but that's just cause the XJ obsession hasn't fully set in for them yet. But it will... oh yes, give it time. lol

And for those like me posting at 3 in morning, I can see why you would want the off-topic included.

Like I said with my first post above.. Someone else brought the "off-topic shouldn't be included" idea up a while back and I thought it was a good idea. I just was relaying the message and seeing what you guys had to say about it.

Btw, CherokeeForum.com is the best. And I would love to get a decal but the form to order them.. keeps rejecting my card (which works perfectly cause I checked with my bank). If anyone has any ideas or could help that would be great.

thanx.

I'm a noob. I have an obsession with my Cherokee. I haven't even take delivery if it yet. I've ALWAYS liked the XJ's and now I finally (almost) have one. Two weeks. I plan on being a contributing member of the forum.

Try posting about it in the CF Stickers Thread. JonF checks that thread from time to time, and he could prolly help you. Either that, or you could PM him. He should be able to get you taken care of. HTH!!

Default Post count vs. knowledge

There is actually fora out there that implement a rating system, of sorts, where the forum member is rated (case in point: SHOforum). It goes from "xxx is unknown at this point" to "xxx will be famous soon enough" to "xxx is a splendid one" and some other variations, not always flattering. I, for one, feel very uneasy with that one. For the most part, it seems directly related to the post count, but it's not consistent. I really do not like to be rated/judged on an open forum, since I don't know who is doing the judging (it's not a robot but a person), and what gives them the right to do so.

The only thing I know about a rating system at CF is the moniker under your user name that is based on thread count. It doesn't take into account whether you've been helpful or an opinionated idiot.

Forget it. Once a post/thread has been deleted/altered by a Mod it's gone never to be seen again on CF. Their decisions are final and not to be discussed. See Rule #4.

He's talking about the reputation feature Ol'Blue.. where you aquire ruby's either positive or negative. This feature tends to be abused and not widely used.

Oh, well since I'm not very computer savy I can't respond to that without looking like an idiot, so I guess I'll have another coffee instead. Thanks for the reply though.

vBulletin is the format that this and many other Forums are constructed with. I'm not savy either... but i did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
