Hi everyone,

Since I am getting questions on my tribute to CCKen regarding his status, I'll tell all of you what I know.

To the best of my knowledge, Ken is incapacitated to a degree that does not allow him to post on the net at this time. He is in his 70's so I keep an eye on the obit's where he lives.

Ken was very influential and helpful (through both his voluminous posts on Jeep forums and pm's) to me early on in my 4X4 adventures with my Jeep. He is funny and witty and humorous and serious and knowledgeable and practical and, well, I miss him being around.

A tribute is a perfectly acceptable way to honor the living, so it seemed fitting to me to have one in my sig.

If I find out anything regarding his status, I will post it. I'm sure there are a couple more members who would also.

Thank you for sharing this. I was one who also asked. His knowledge base is incredible and it says a lot about him as a person to come share it here as he did. I learned a lot from him. Meeting a Gentleman like this is far and few in between. I hope he is still well. Please do update if you find out anything more.

Man, as I mentioned to you, I hate open ended situations like this. It makes a strong argument for making sure someone has your favorite haunts and log in credentials on file or at least an email connection. If anything so that all your friends who care about you can have some closure.

He was a fantastic poster here, and I hope that somehow he is able to someday return. I just now saw that he hasn't been here since the end of June last year, so I'm guessing that may be a slim possibility. If anyone has an update, I would hope to see it here.

Agreed. Ken's input was (and still is) invaluable to many a stumped or curious XJer. If anything more becomes known regarding his status, it will be posted.

Yes, Fred isn't in very good health either. I have to admit I forgot about him...

Thanks for posting this. I certainly agree that he's been a very valuable contributor.

(Though we have gone toe-to-toe on the topic of dielectric grease a few times. )
