Default Hurricane Irma

This is a message to all our members, friends and family in S. Florida or the coastlines. This message also goes out to all of our friends on the Gulf Coasts and areas. Harvey was an unfortunate and horrific storm that recently wreaked havoc on the people of TX and LA. Now we have Irma, a Cat 5 w/185mph winds headed to our shores. To the people of S. FL (Myself included) PLEASE get to a safe location and be prepared as soon as possible. To all who are still battling the effects of Harvey and the Gulf Coast, PLEASE be prepared for the possibility of a second impact.

If you have a lifted Jeep, please when safely possible, check on your neighbors and offer assistance to those in need.

I wish all of our Southeastern and S Central members and their families a safe ride through this upcoming storm. Even though it is still 3-4days out, I will try to keep service and communication to update everyone and be here just to talk to those who need to.

From all of the CF Staff, Please be ready and stay safe. We are always here if needed.

Good deal with this post, Lee. Please, all those who might be even remotely affected, be prepared, stay vigilant, and offer help if you are able.

My first experience with hurricanes was at the tender age of 5 in Pensacola FL in 1950. It was only a Cat1, but living in a small house trailer at the time was scary. The eyewall passed right over us and going outside to see it will live in my memory forever! My dad used steel cable and tied the trailer to a Chevy stackrack truck, but that trailer was rocking and rolling! Somebody's trashcan smashed a window, so there was some water damage, but not a lot. I've been thru 5 more since and one at sea. I haven't done a tornado yet and hope NOT to!

Excellent post Lee. Please everyone, get to a safe location and only take essentials. I hope, by some miracle, the devastation is minimal.

Starting Sat, I will give updates as it makes landfall. I hope to see others here in FL, GA and Carolina's add their reports and updates so we can track everyone's well being.

This one looks like a monster. "Superstorm Sandy" that did so much destruction here in NJ hit with wind speeds of about 80 mph. Last night Irma was reported as packing 185 mph winds! I don't think I'd want to hang around for that, get to someplace safe!

I agree Rambler. I'd be heading inland far away from the storm.

At my house, its very common to get days with 50-60mph gust. Those gust do a ton of damage. Trees go down, fences blow over, roof shingles fly off, semi trucks flip over and its nearly impossible to stay in your lane when driving. I cant even imagine what 185mph winds can do. Stay safe out there!

It is looking to be one hell of a ride...from what I've seen it should be down to 4 by the time it hits you, but, that's still one dilly of a pickle...I know Lee is laughing at this right now, and I also know why, haha
