Default AMC 232 + 4.0 fuel injection?

I was out in the shop looking at all the parts and had a thought. My dads got a AMC 232 in a cj-5 with like 1700 miles on it. He plans to pull it for a v8. I've always heard that pretty much all the amc straight 6 engines were pretty much the same block and wondered, could I put newer 4.0 parts on it and make a fuel injected 232? I'm thinking at least intake exhaust computer and various sensors off a junkyard Cherokee and BAM! Fuel injected 232. Thoughts? Am I crazy? I think it just might work.

I read some where that you could take the crank out and put it in the 4.0 to mini-stroke it. I think the 4.0 with the 232 crank will get you more compression with the stock 4.0 internals. I tried a google search and not too much came up. I think the combustion chamber on the 232 is smaller than the 4.0, the head might fit but you would lose compression. (4.0 bore 3.88" - 232 bore 3.75").
Maybe an intake manifold swap with the MPFI from the 4.0?

Wait! If the combustion chamber is smaller, you'll RAISE compression. Total cylinder volume including chamber volume divided by combustion chamber volume equals ratio.

Usually for old AMC vehicles the hot setup is to drop a complete 4.0 in. It will fit anywhere the 199/232/258 goes, but it can get complicated especially dealing with the electronics, sensors, and matching up a transmission.

As far as I can tell no one has done this before so I guess I just go for it and see what fits. First I figured I'd use h.o. parts but I hear renix is simple and easy to work on so now I'm not sure. Any thoughts?
