xj roof lights. need a little help

I have a 1996 xj and I would like to put lights on top. I already have the lights and wires. I just don't know we're I should run them, I don't mind drilling and sealing. I would like some recommendations please.

What do you mean by on top?

Up on my roof rack.

Drill a hole on the passenger side a pillar. Make sure to use a grommet. Run the wires through the trim. Ground the light. You need a relay in the engine bay. Ground the relay. If you have a 4 wire relay.....the wire from the light goes to the relay. 1 wire from relay to the battery. Other power is to the switch. Make sure the switch isn't wired to constant power or it will drain the battery.

Not sure about earlier xj's, but on the 97+ you can tuck the wires under the windshield gasket and run them down the a pillar and behind the fender into the engine bay.

If it is an aftermarket metal rack you can weld small tabs where you wish with a hole in them and mount where ever you wish, front and rear.
