Wiring Harness Specs

I am looking to redo my wiring harness to account for lighting and future gadgetry, but instead of soldering I would like to rebuild it and just clamp on the pins that go into the plugs. I want to rebuild the harness to compensate for the use of the manual transmission instead of the automatic that it came with, I will also be stealing the OEM fuse box from the 96 I have as a donor to run the extra fuses. Through this process I will be relocating the harness into the cabin, or possibly into the area where the wiper motor is housed in order to clean up the engine bay because I know I will be doing another engine swap after a while.

I feel this will be easier in the long run and I enjoy working on the wiring - it is methodical.

What I need to know is the OEM wiring gauge for the engine harness, most seem to be the same. And then I need the pin connector size and type for the plugs. I had taken a motorcycle harness into Radio Shack before and those guys were pretty useless.

Any other OEM upgrades I should make while I'm at it? Do Haynes manuals have wiring diagrams?

Forget Haynes

Go to Pacific Coast Manuals and download a pdf version of the Factory Service Manual for your Jeep. $7.95.

It has wiring diagrams +.
