UConnect GPS nerd question

Evening,

In two weeks, I will receive my 2015 brand new Grand Cherokee Limited. Included in this package is a GPS. I am a vivid Garmin user (have 4 or 5 Garmins for my bikes and car here) and a Tomtom.
My question... I doubt that my Jeeps GPS has an African map. My Garmins don't have but I use open source street maps for any part of the world I'm working and so far, that works.
I'm curious what format Jeep uses for their mapping. Because I have various versions with street level for West Africa.
Anybody out there ever tried that.
Looking forward to your reply

Erik

That makes sense.

Well, monday the purchase order goes out so next week I should have my Jeep.
Done some digging and found the following....
https://static.garmincdn.com/autoOem...tions%20V3.pdf

Then, if you go to http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl you'll basically find any map of our small little world for free.
I use these maps for years already and even on my own Garmin zumo660, I use them in Nigeria (unto street level).
So, it should be no problem to install any map on the UConnect... At least I know what format UConnect uses. Next week I should be able to tell how to install any map you want on your car system. Exciting about this

Well, apparently I was a little too quick.
My car is not fitted with a GPS (accept my own Garmin).
But what I understood, it should be no problem adding Openstreet maps to any GPS because it are Garmin format.
