OEM Hatch speakers?

I was wondering what years they actually put OEM speakers in the hatch of the XJ's, and if anyone has any pictures of the stock speakers installed. All I've ever seen is aftermarket speakers in the hatch, so I'm curious what it looked like stock. Any input is appreciated!

Mine did. They're long gone now. I took them out to eventually upgrade. Mine was a loaded 86.

Cool, so I know the 86's had them at least. It's weird though how nothing came up on google image search when I looked for stock pics.

Whether they came with speakers or not, the wiring should be there. My 93 didn't have hatch speakers but was fully wired. Jeep used the same wiring harness regardless of options.

I mainly want to see what the stock speakers looked like mounted under the panel. All I ever see are 6x9's and dremeled panels.

Saw a 88 Cherokee Chief today at the jy that had the oem square Jensen's on the hatch. Didn't even think to investigate further..

That is the same as mine. I looked for pictures too and couldn't find anything.

I see what you mean about Google search. I might be able to take the cover off my 93, it doesn't have "stock" speakers since as I mentioned it didn't come with any but it looked just like this when I opened it up the first time. You can see on the far left and right where the speakers go, they take the same size as the doors, 5.25"??

Same as the doors from the factory.

You don't have to dude, but thanks. I know those tabs like to break easy. Mainly wanted to see what stock looked like equipped out of curiosity, due to the lack of pics.

My 1990 had OEM speakers that were paper cones. They were all busted and I just replaced them with some Kicker 5.25 speakers. They were an easy replacement fitting perfectly reusing OEM screws. I did cut off the OEM head off of the speaker wire, but you may find the adapter for the direct plug in at Best Buy. Quadratec.com has a kicker replacement that fits into the OEM plug but they were $129.99. I was able to get a pair of Kickers at Best Buy without the adapter for $59.99. Not sure if they are the same speaker though they sound great.
