Bunch of static, cutting in and out, now nothing. Took out spare and removed side panel, wires look fine but I'm not expert so who knows. Where do the wires run to the rear from the head unit? I have a JVC and it seems to be working. My left door speaker is out too, but I'm sure thatshe bad wires. Would door wires affect rear speakers?

http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/...tail/1212.html, check this out. I have a '95 the rears never worked and still don't but that is on me, haha. I also had the same problem with the front drivers door and pulled new wires into then just spliced it in behind the kick panel and it worked fine after that. Fixing one most likely won't fix the other was my experience.

That's some great information that will come in handy as I track this speaker issue down, thank you!

For what it is worth, I had the sound bar in the rear and followed the same path. Removed the rear interior panel and followed the wires up to the speakers, connections were all tight and wire looked fine. The interior light worked but the speakers didn't so in my case I suspect that the problem is from the rear panel to the front but other things have prevented me from pursuing it. Good luck.

Pulled the passenger side rear panel today and checked all the wiring. Unwrapped all the tape, no broken wires. found a ground wire on the rear seat mounting hump. cleaned that, no dice.

So do the speaker wires run up the center hub to the radio? Is there another connector somewhere between the back seat and the radio itself? I cant read a wiring schem for cr*p

I saw those wires running along the passenger side, lost them in the rear seat area. do they run up to the radio through the center hub between the seats?

I'm not sure how they run......did you take the rear speakers out and check the connections? and check that the wires to be sure they are the original wires--colors match what I posted?

Yes I did. The colors match as the chart showed. I was hoping the rear speakers would be like the front, common problem like a broken wire. It's weird that they both go out together. I figured they'd run independent from the radio.

You could always just pull new wires since you have it all pulled apart rather than trying to figure out why the existing stuff is not panning out.

When I finally move back into working on the interior, I am going to pull new wires and save myself the trouble.

If you do any new wires, remember not to downgrade them. Your factory speaker wire is actually much nicer than most speaker wire available. Without physical damage, any problems you have are most likely the deck and the speakers. The wires are good.

I would disagree on that, the factory wires to the doors especially are known to break from years.of the door opening and closing. On more than just the speakers they seem to have used some of the thinnest and cheapest wire possible, color coding is nice but any 18ga speaker wire is going to be an upgrade.

Factory is 16 gauge solid core wire. Try and even buy that anywhere for audio. I have never once seen a car with bad factory wiring. They wire for keeping it solid for years.

Most aftermarket wire is stranded/braided. This is worse than solid core. and is far more likely to "fray from the doors opening", but I disbelieve this as an issue, unless your rubber grommets are fried (as mine were on my 95).

The build quality of a factory system, in anything really, is not the issue, its the "quality" of the parts. My 20 year old 4.5" rears are in perfect working order. They sound like garbage, but they are perfectly operational.

Unless you are installing Thousands of dollars worth of speakers, the wiring is very good for 6.5" speakers. Most likely, your speaker is the weak point.

This needs new wires: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_091NO7/...9237625&awdv=c

This does not: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TG16...9126665&awdv=c
