My in-dash radio/cb install: Moved to Electronics Related

I wanted to share my installation of my JVC radio and Midland CB1 in my 00 Cherokee. I constructed all the brackets from steel, hand bent and welded together to fit the factory radio mounting holes and bolts.

Looks great man, clean install. I need to install an external speaker for mine.... it's never loud enough.

Sweet! You've just added another mod to my wish list. Damn you! LOL

Thanks. I was worried about the speaker because it's buried in the dash. I will update once I get my antenna hooked up and I can test it out.

digging that setup looks nice and clean. But i like where mine is at. I do need to get an upgraded speaker though.

Thanks, it just seemed like the easiest/cleanest way to get it out of the way since it will only be used for trail rides.

This is easily the cleanest CB install I've ever seen. Looks as if it came that way from the factory. Kudos to you man

Looks great. I'm debating where to put mine and have an idea for some dead space in another area but this will be my backup plan.

Very nice looking install and homemade steel plate really works well.

I solved my CB problem with this Cobra unit everything in the Mic rest is remote mounted makes for very clean install. The remote unit has a speaker output on it but I was surprised with the one in the Mic very loud have to turn it down and good quality sound. This unit retails for under $100 and top rated I have 20-30 different ones over the years and for an AM only this is top notch and has emergency weather/channels also.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Fred, I also considered this unit for the same reasons. I really just didn't like the added complexity of all the buttons on the handset. Do you ever have issues with accidentally switching the cannel or anything?

Fred/N0AZZ Nov 9, 2015 02:37 PM

No I have not and its mostly used off road. I worried about that also but very easy to use I also had my doubts but glad I did go with it. I do have other radios (amateur) equipment in the XJ also.
