Does anyone know if I could fit this deck into my Jeep?
1 Attachment(s)
I've currently got an aftermarket deck in my XJ by JVC and it is a single-DIN which is the same as the stock deck I'm pretty sure? I was wondering about this one:
Attachment 398234 It looks as though the part that would be in the dash is still a single-DIN so do you think this would fit in and then the screen would stick out a bit from the bezel or if there would be a way to do this? |
You are posting in "OEM XJ Cherokee Technical. All XJ Non-modified/stock questions go here"
You are posting about.... an aftermarket electronic device. What is so hard about this? Aftermarket electrical systems "Aftermarket electronics only! stereo head units, CD players, MP3 players, speaker systems, amplifiers, hardmounted GPS devices, computers, headlight upgrades, fog lights, off-road lights, general wiring and anti-theft devices." |
The lower half of that screen takes up as much room as the head unit itself, which would partially cover up the heater controls if this is for a 95-96 as your username suggests. Even if it sticks out a bit, the heater controls are still partially covered up. Unless you never use them. Found some more pics for you. Had to check the image url to know what model it was. Sony XAV-ax100.
This is the backside of an XAV-ax100. Thats a lot of overhang. http://cdn.qualitymobilevideo.com/me...-stereo-07.jpg Here is another from the side. The backside of the screen is straight, no offset. So the heater controls will be partially covered. The top slider will be in the way by the looks of it. http://www.wahaha.com.my/image/mywho...EAR%20VIEW.jpg BTW, both image urls refer to this head unit as a double DIN. |
Here it is installed in a 97-02 TJ, which has roughly the same center dash as a 97-01 XJ. Your screen name indicates a 95 or 96, but your user details say 2000
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...e34a297d65.jpg As you can see, you must cut out the part of the dash that separates the stock radio from the AC controls. You must also use a single din kit that has the din slot as high up as possible, like this one. Although.....it kind of looks like maybe the one in my link extends out and the one in the picture doesn't. So maybe you won't have to cut up the dash. You would have to get creative with the order of installation |

Yes, like others have said, it'll fit a '97-'01 Cherokee XJ or '97-'02 Wrangler TJ if you modify the radio opening to fit a Double-DIN head unit. It WON'T fit an '84-'96 Cherokee XJ, however.
