Better cb radio power
 

any one know any ways to get better cb transmission out of their cb radios pluged into 12 volt. Or any other ways to better improve power?

Yeah try the quarter wave 9 foot fiberglass whip antenna.

A proper installation gets the best results. The most important thing is the antenna system. No, not the antenna, the antenna system. That includes the coax and all the connectors.

If you have any crimps or tight bends in your coax, throw it out and start over. Treat that stuff like glass. It's not just wire. The radio transmission characteristics of coax depend on the distance between the outside conductor (the braid) and the inner conductor. Change that distance (by a too-tight bend or a pinch) and you have changed the radio transmission characteristics of your coax, and it won't be for the better.

Also make sure your antenna is grounded properly. Many people don't understand how important this is.

90% of the performance in a radio install is the antenna and quality and care taken installing it. Most of the one's you see installed are not in the best locations nor optimized for the car/suv/truck it's installed on.

The first thing you need to do is find out where the antenna is to be mounted then the size/type from a 24" fiberglass to a 102" SS Whip. With any antenna the same applies the best place to mount it is in the center of the roof for the ground plane it gives the largest area, next would be the trunk (center front lip mount) or hood area (mounted to the inter-fender at the back of the hood area). These are for shorter antennas either fiberglass or loaded coils or a metal whip. The larger antennas need to be mounted on the rear bumper or front you see both and what I run on mine (102" SS whip) on the back swing out tire carrier bumper.
